Is The Credit Crisis Over? 7 Steps to Protect Yourself
This economic crisis has everyone worried. There are hundreds of thousands of homes being listed as foreclosures on RealtyTrac.com now which is not a good indication. It doesn’t matter if you work for minimum wage or are pulling in 7 figures, financial matters are on your mind. The good news is that there are some things that everyone can do to keep themselves afloat in this choppy economy.
Follow these 7 tips to help you sidestep your own economic downturn:
Step 1: Save as much as possible. Try to cut back on expenses so you can live on half of what you are living on now. Put the rest in savings. If something happens in the future then you have that savings cushion to fall back on. If you need extra cash, consider trading in your gold for cash at Cash4Gold.com. Make sure that you keep track of your credit score using Free Credit Reports to make sure that you are always getting the best rates on credit for the times when you will need it. For example, you may need Quicken Loans one day, so you will want to have good credit so that you will not only get approved but so that you will also get a better interest rate.
Step 5: Consider scaling back. Many people have extra channels on their cable or satellite that they don’t use. Getting rid of them can actually save you quite a bit. Look for other things that you can downgrade, too. Everything from phones to the number of cars you own can be downgraded. For example, you may want to consider switching your health insurance and car insurance plans to something more competitively priced. There are great Dental Insurance Plans and Cheap Individual Health Insurance Plans out there; you can similarly find great auto insurance at esurance.com for less money. If you currently own a boat, boat insurance also comes significantly cheaper. The bottom line is that you want to shop around.
Step 6: Don’t buy into all the hype. Sometimes not listening to the news or reading the latest economic headlines can help. You have enough stress. You don’t need to be bothered by what the media is saying. Half the time they exaggerate things anyway, making them seem worse than they really are.
Step 7: Don’t be negative. Negative thoughts only make things worse. Just stay positive. Keep a good outlook on things. Do not let this whole economic thing get you down. Think positive thoughts and keep a smile on your face. It will not only make you feel better, but it may just attract positive things to happen in your life. The credit crisis is stressful for everyone. It won’t last forever, though. You just need to keep your head up and move through it. You have to stay smart and not let the little things get you down.
