You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out Still Rings True
In A Christmas Story, all Ralphie wanted was an official Red Ryder Carbine action two hundred shot range model air rifle, but was told, “No, you’ll shoot your eye out.” Once he got one, he did, and broke his glasses.
Sitting too close to the TV can make you go blind? Myth, or Fact? Actually, it’s a myth. The fact is that it causes your eyes to become fatigued or tired. What really causes the problem over sitting too close is your hearing ability. If the TV is in focus it wont’ hurt your eyes.
However, sitting for long periods of time playing video games, being on the computer online at Gamevance, GameFly or Game House, or watching TV, can cause dryness and irritation to the eyes. Strain doesn’t come from the lack of movement because we get plenty in our daily lives.
Staring at one object too long can cause serious fatigue to the eyes, and make you feel more tired. Long periods of time in front of a computer not only is wearing on the eyes but also your entire body. So you shouldnt spend too much time looking at Real Arcade
Are you more hunched over trying to read your screen on your laptop? Do you sit properly at home when using your pc? Do children really know what is going on around them when they have just spent four to five hours playing the video games? Those same video games that are graphically designed to be real world simulators and push their adrenaline glands can be straining their eyes.
I don’t know about you, but If I spend too much time sitting in one spot on the computer, I find myself becoming less active and more lazy. If I am playing some online game or a computer game I feel as though I have to complete it before doing anything else so I end up playing it way too long.
Not only are our children not running around and getting the exercise they require on a daily bases, they are also being exposed to high volumes of electromagnetic energy. Every electronic device puts out a certain amount of electromagnetic energy that is absorbed through the human body. The RC Helicopters would be one example of this. However, Diecast car models and good old fashioned Rock are better pastimes for children.
This type of over exposure for long periods of time can cause biological problems. Studies and physics show that the body absorbs electromagnetic energy which is conducted through our nervous system. Imagine what that could be doing to your child after four to five hours a day, three hundred and sixty five days a year for the next fifteen to twenty years?
So eye sight is a issue, due to the proven fact that staring at one object too long does cause fatigue and dry eyes. That the body is becoming chemically over stimulated from the subsequent virtual world, and is being exposed to long term electromagnetic energy messing with the biological system raises even more concerns
They may not be shooting their eye out with the Red Ryder air rifle, but they are actually harming their eyes by playing video games for long periods of time. I know I didn’t go blind by sitting too close to the TV. I have a hard time hearing, and my back is mores hunched over than before. I do wear glasses due to the natural aging process. However, I never spent more than one hour a night in front of television and I still have both eyes. On the other hand, I can’t seem to stop getting those awful paper cuts from Avery Labels or Day Spring Greeting Cards, and those are really a pain in the neck.
